Sadly, well over 70 years after the concept of degrowth was imagined, we're now in a triage situation with the reality of shrinking resources, particularly oil to deal with, and climate change locked in by the emissions already warming the planet, and the ones just getting underway. The melting Arctic and Greenland ice sheets are no joke.
As a fellow disciple of degrowth, it’s good to see these ideas gaining ground in financial circles, especially at events not traditionally open to them. Thank you for sharing this.
I’d also love to hear your thoughts on a new housing architecture I’ve been designing aimed at helping make degrowth a reality.
When positive action was still possible, when the data first became available regarding the danger of climate change and when it became evident through peer reviewed research that the world needed to act to prevent future disasters, nothing was done. Less than nothing was done!
They didn’t just kick the can down the road, they put a 500 HP motor on that can and sent it straight into our future devastation.
The outright failure of our elected officials over the last 50 years to protect our planet and the future’s of our children was deliberate. They ignored science…because the science wasn’t convenient. The science demanded hard action and a cohesive plan, alien words in our government.
