Man - So, now that you’ve had a week to research it, what do you think the Shutdown 315 movement?
Woman - I have to admit, it looks like a pretty cool movement. If enough people follow through with it, they could really make a difference, if …
Man - If what?
Woman - If rich people join the cause. Right now, the top 10% of the country are responsible for about half of all spending. To really make this a successful movement, the rich in America need to join the cause.
Man - So you're telling me that we need the oligarchy to help us dismantle the oligarchy.
Woman- Maybe not the oligarchy, but those just below the oligarchy.
Man - Great.
Woman - You asked me to do the research.
Man - I am regretting that decision.

Let my eyes be opened.
When the vast majority of Americans are literally living paycheck to paycheck to survive, degrowth is already occuring. The 10% will not support the movement. They revil in the current situation. It satisfies their greed and narcissistic ego. A few billionaires alone didn't get us to this point of collapse, they had help. 10 to 30 million (10%) sounds just about right.
The boycott movement I still support. It might make a difference. But a better method might be for small local businesses (plumbers, carpenters mechanics etc) to refuse to do work for them. " Backed up toilet? I'll be there in 3 months. Have a nice day "
