Everybody Wins
Look at this map and tell me you don't want it.
Sometimes, Mommy and Daddy shouldn’t stay together.
Highly untrained Federal agents in the United States killed another US citizen this past weekend under the pretense of immigration and customs enforcement. The video of the event shows federal agents beating a man unprovoked and killing him in cold blood. Although the video is pretty hard to argue with, there are plenty of people who are still trying. Within minutes of the shooting, those in the US administration labelled the man killed, Alex Pretti, a terrorist.
We can see where this is going.
This can and probably will devolve into more violence.
But there is a better idea.
Just admit this isn’t working and write up the divorce papers.
Those that want a New Confederacy can have it. Those who tend to be more progressive can become part of the United States of Canada.
I took the map from the header of this article as a guide. It isn’t perfect. Colorado, New Mexico and Virginia all tend to be blue states these days, and Pennsylvania went “red” in two out of the last three presidential elections. I’ll let the divorce lawyers iron out those details. But the main gist is that red states remain in America, and blue states join Canada.
I did some rudimentary math to see how the numbers would shake out:
As you can see, the US would lose a lot of GDP, but it would have the ability to do whatever it wanted without those pesky libs whining about human rights and the environment.
Although New Canada would originally enjoy a higher GDP than the New USA, those lefties in New Canada would be more likely to adopt degrowth policies to save the environment, their children’s future, or some other misguided cause. GDP for the new USA would likely catch up.
Populations of the new countries would be fairly similar, with populations within 20 million people of each other.
Those in current US blue states would get that free health care they always wanted, a better education system, more rights as citizens, and would discover the culinary beauty of poutine. Those in the new USA know none of those things really matter, so they could say good riddance to their misguided neighbors who want those things.
Some people might say, “I’m going to fight for my country to make it a better place”. Yeah, you could do that. Or you could cut your losses and start being happy tomorrow. Staying in a marriage to try to change the mind of someone who wants you dead doesn’t make a lot of sense.
This is a situation where everyone gets what they want.
Canada gets to be a real country.
US blue states get rights and healthcare.
US red states get rid of blue states.
We don’t need to go through a generation of violence and bad leadership. Just fast forward to the end.
Everybody wins.

I don't think this is going to happen tomorrow. Plant the seeds now. Start the discussions of how it would work. Project 2025 didn't start in 2024.
I'm not asking for permission.
