When the idea of COP meetings started three decades ago, CO2 concentrations were at 354 ppm (parts per million), and the temperature was 0.3°C hotter than in pre-industrial times.
Today CO2 concentrations are about 423 ppm, and the temperature is about 1.5°C hotter than in pre-industrial times.
It’s time to throw away COP. It doesn’t work, and worse yet, it gives the illusion of action when none occurs.
It's astonishing how far we let things go toward apocalypse before we deal with giving up the selfishness we run on now. We need a system change to where we care about each other as much as we care about ourselves, where we go from a world running on economic interests to a humanitarian world where altruism is the given. We have the internet. Why don’t visible figures like you get together to organize us? Create a massive coalition as a force for the good so we aren’t all isolated gadflies flapping wings that get us nowhere!
COPS needs to die as does the whole UN IPCC initiative as it’s become politics and not science.
We need a formal review to decide if NetZero is unnecessary, technologically unattainable, economically unviable and extremely foolish. And especially as the “rest” of the global economies continue to do nothing anyway. It may mean only focused adaption for “high risk areas” and will allow us to get on with prosperity using the power of Fossil fuels.
