The poorest 55% of the world’s population control only 1% of global wealth. The poorest 88% of the world’s population control only about 15% of the world’s wealth.
They do not control much of global wealth, but there can be strength in numbers. If this population can band together, they have the power to move the world to a safer and more just space.
There is a word for that: solidarity.

these gross inequities point to the need for more attention from the degrowth movement to one of its proposed mechanisms - redistribution. How is redistribution to work to reduce this inequity? The earth cannot bear more economic growth to create a fairer distribution of goods to those in need; redistribution is essential (especially since those at the top don't need, and cannot actually make use of the excess wealth they have)
