The phrase "I'm a person too" is the name of a movement advocating for legal personhood for whales. This movement, launching in June 2025, aims to recognize whales as legal persons with inherent rights, including the right to freedom of movement and a healthy environment.
Given how well we're doing with each other, I'm not so sure this is a step forward.
It could lead to harvesting obese humans, to be rendered down to light our homes.
It was only cheap kerosene that kept us from sending whales into extinction.
