Precisely. The two are often conflated, which is what I want to talk about.
Austerity is political economic decision-making for deciding who-gets-what - specifically people-who-get-more deciding that people-who-get-less will get even less
Degrowth can be people everywhere deciding to adopt regenerative options - for meeting their human physical needs - that “de-grow” the extraction flows & pollution flows which are creating the planet’s ecological crises. De-growing the extraction and pollution flows allows the biosphere to regenerate itself, and allows the regenerated biosphere to reverse the eco-crises as a whole.
